WHY THE DEVON RETURNED EMPTY. Some days ago the.. Devon loturncd t> New Zealand bringing a very email draft Of returned soldiers from Egypt. Questions have been asked as to why the ship was not filled with men. When Sir Jamca Allen.was asked about this matter yesterday he said that the question of the dispatch of men from Egypt was ono for decision bv the Imperial authorities. Hβ assumed that the men were not dispatched because they were considered by the Imperial authorities to be necessary to protect the white population in Egypt. He repeated again his former declaration that the Government had by no means forgotten the men of the Egyptian force, but on the contrary was.just as anxious for the 'return of those men as of any other soldiers Abroad.
