LICENSING POLL

. THE FINAL FIGURES. Tho count of the votes cast at the licensing poll on April 10 is now complete. The soldiers' ballot papers from Samoa and from the transport Devon were counted in Wellington yesterday, and the returns forwarded to the Minister of Justice (Hon. T. M. Wilford. No soldiers' votes remain to be counted, and the civilian returns are probably in their final form, though a single official count, from the Mamikau electorate, has not yet reached the Chief Returning Officer. The returns as they stand at present show a majority for continuance of 10.455. This majority may be final, and in any case it will be amended only slightly. Tho offtcial announcement of Hie result of the poll will be made by the Minister for Justice very shortly. The results of the voting at Samoa and on tho transport Devon were as follow:— SAMOAN GARRISON. Continuance 100 Prohibition 35 Majority for continuance .... 65 ' TRANSPORT DEVON. Continuance $ Prohibition t 6 Majority for Continuance ... 1 The totals of civilian x votes and soldiers' votes are as follow:— * Continuance ~..\. 2C4,0i9 Prohibition 253,594 Majority for Continuance 10.455
