INFECTIOUS DISEASES
INFLUENZA POSITION GOOD. The influenza notifications continue.to show that the country is getting rid of, the sickness. The Minister of Public Health stated on, Saturday that between June 2 and June 5 the total number of influenza cases notified throughout tho Dominion was 12, of which only two were sevore. There was one pneumonic cn69 in Wellington, and a fatal case in Canterbury. During the month of May there were ten cases of cerebito-spinal meningitis in, the Dominion—three at Lower Hutt, three in Hawke's .Bay, threo in Otago, and one in a plaw not specified, Two of the cases proved fatal. During the week ! cnding Juno 2 there wore 192 cases of infectious diseases notified. Particulars were as follow:—Scarlet fever, 36; diphtheria, 67; enteric fever, G; tuberculosis, 18; corebro-spinal meningitis, 2; infaafcilo paralysis, 1; influenza, 42; nioasles, 13; lethargic encephalitis, 7. Of the last-mentioned disease two of the cases wero at Auckland, four at Welliitfton, and one in Wairarapa. '
