TIDAL WAVE
'AT THE FRIENDLY ISLANDS.

An earthquake which occurred at the Friendly Islands on April 30 was followed by a tidal wave, estimated to bo eight feet high, which did considerable damage on Haapai. Vavau and Nukualofa escaped damage. The extent of tho damage on Haapai -is not knoi'n, tho only information having been received by natives in tho other groups. It is understood no lives were lost.
