SUNDAY SCHOOLS

As a result of the extension movement started by the. Wellington Sunday School Union, quite a number of districts where Sunday Schools were unknown are likely, it is stated, to have this condition of affaire altered. Mr. W: E. Howe .is founding 6chools and endeavouring to find teachers for schools large and email. Hβ says that on one Sunday he attended a school that had only, been opened tho week before. It was\wet all dav, and he naturally expected only a small attendance. The opening day had seen forty boys and girls present, arid the 6eeono Sunday thirty-eight turned up, .even although some of them liad to come long distances in the rain.'' Included in the number were older boys and girls from 16 to 21 years old. Mr. Howe was sue cessful in obtaining 'a staff of seven teachers for this school, and left it witu every prospect of a very, useful career. The lady who ia taking charge has a young family of six to look'after, so she is an example to many.city ladies who think they are too busy to prepare a lesson. each week. A preparation class was started under.the superintendence of the Church of England minister. Most schools started by Mr. Howe are considerably smaller than this one, as it is intended to commence wherever any scholars can bs , got together provided a teacher is available.
