The grain markets are very quiet, there being no inquiry on the part of millers for wheat, and offerings have eased oft now that it is realised that millers are stocked up pretty well for the time be« ing. Oats are difficult to procure from growers, who. are firm holders for better prices'than are at present offered. Speculative business still, goes on, but until merohants really come on the markot for supplies the speculation does not affect the growers, who have their own ideas of values with the winter before them and the shortage of feed for 6tock. Oatsheaf iihaff is firmer, and although it is now quoted at £5 10s. to-Jio 15s. per ton at country stations it is difficult to procure. Some outting is being dono, but growers are not'anxious to r sell. In grass, seed and clovers there is little doing, but tho linseed market is firm as a result of inquiries from Sydney, though no further advance is quoted. Peas are meeting with good inquiry, Partridges selling at ss. per bushel at country stations. The potato market is firmer, .£5 10s. per ton now- being paid at country stations for white varieties for this month's delivery, and Dakota Reds are realising ss. per ton more, and for June delivery .£5 15s. per ton has been pßid. Inquiries are coming to hartd from Wellington for potatoes, though it is stated that there are la.rga quantities in store on the wharf at Wellington. One reason' given is that the Hawke's Bay, Mannwatu. and Wellington crops have turned out better than was expected. Onions aTe firmer, -and aro quoted at £6 Jss. to ,87 per ton at country stations, deliveries having eased off.
