_ AT THE SECOND AUCTIONS,. The following cablegram has been receiyed by the Imperial Supplies Department from the Director of Raw Materials, London:— "The second series of wool auctions commenced on May 6. Selection of combing merino wool poor, and inadequate for present trade requirements. Competition for good merino and crossbred is!■ ■animated, but demand for inferior quality wools somewhat unsatisfactory. Combing merino and fine crossbred is 71 per cent, dearer, medium, crossbred 2\ per- cent, dearer, and ,coarso crossbred no change. Scoured crossbred and slipe aro keenly competed for, finer descriptions realising 5 per cent, advance."
