LOWER HUTT MAGISTRATE'S COURT

Messrs. Chapman, Pearce, and James, J.P.'s, presided over the monthly sitting of the Lower Hutt Magistrate's Court yesterday. \ ' For cycling on (he footpath, Charles Ashton and William Howland were each fined ss. and Court costs 7s. For a 6imilar offence Horace Hughes was convicted and ordered to pay 7s. costs. For leaving a vehicle unattended on a public roadway, Edgar Pryer was convicted aud ordered to pay 7s. costs. Thomas M'lvor was fined os., with 7s. costs, for a similar offence. For failing to carry a tail light on 'his motor-car Henry Colsou was fined 55.,' with 7s. costs, aika-' andqr Oswald was fined 10s. and costs 7s. on a charge of allowing cattle to wander.' Colin Cudby pleaded not guilty to a charge of having obstructed Constable Frost in the execution of his duty. After hearing evidence on both sides, the presiding J.P.'s convicted and discharged the accused.

CIVIL CASES. Judgment by default was given for the plaintiffs in the following cases:—Mrs. A. E. .Unwin v. Frank Meunem, £i, with costs 165.; Gadsby Bros', v. George Hunt, £11 9s. sd„ with costs 17s.
