NAVY LEAGUE
MEETING'.OP THE EXECUTIVE. At a meeting of tho Wellington executive of the Navy League, tho president (Mr. J. B. Harcourt) was in the chair, and there were also present:— Mesdnmes J. R. Gibbons, C. E. Richardson, J. Darling, Miss Laurenson, Colonel Campbell,'Captain Chudley, and Messrs. Poster, Wiren, Keesing, and Danoch' (secretary). Mr. Keesing, on behalf of the Education Committee, reported that plans had been formed for tho extension of the work of tho league in State schools. In view of tho naval • festivities duringl tho present year an Entertainment Committeo was set up, consisting of Mosdamos Hall-Thompson, Gibbons, Bradnoy, Williams, Darling, Richardson, Miss Laurenson, Captain Chudley, and Messrs. Harcourt and Keesing (convener), A Decoration Committee, consisting of Captain . Chudley, Messrs. Wiren, Keesing, nnd Danoch, was also set up in connection with the peace celebrations. Tho. ladies of tho executive wore appointed a committee to have charge of the tableau.
It was reported that the Palmer Prize Fund had been closed at £W, which sum had been invested, in -war certificates. The income derived, £5 per annum, will- he donated to four prizes for essays, on naval subjects amongst the primary and secondary school children of New Zealand. The Otago branch of the- Navy League last year had 5500 paid-up school members, and distributed 400.'prizes,.for essay-writing: on naval subjects. : . '■•'..* •
