LOWER HUTT BOROUGH COUNCIL

A meeting of tho Lower Hutt Borough Council was held ■on Monday evening. There were present tho Mayor (Mr. B. P. Kishworth), and Councillors A. J. Ilobbs, W. Kerr, W. Cotton, S. Clendon, J. It. was. decided to support the resolution from the Milton Borough Councjl that the Government tako measures to secure a Government mercantile fleet of steamers, so as to ) away with combines. i Tho secretary of the Palruerslon North Chamber of Conimeico forwarded a resolution that tho Government should control all main arlorial roads of tho Dominion, with a view to tho formation of permanent highways. It was decided to support tho resolution. Tho caretaker of tho Recreation Ground wrote complaining of acts of vandalism in and about tho grounds. The District Health Officer wrote recommending that repairs bf, mado to dwellinghouse which lie considered dangerous to public health. It was decided to tako tho necessary action at once.
