WELLINGTON MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE ECHO OF AUCKLAND-WELLINGTON MATCH The Management Committee of the Wellington Rugby Football Union met last night, Mr. W. F. Hornig presiding. Jackson. •Somo attention was given to the question of suggested alterations to the rules for Ranfurly Shield matches. After some d.scussion it was decided to submit the loilowing motion for consideration at tlio annual meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union: "That the Ranfurly Shichl regulations be amended as follow": regulation No. 3 be deleted and the following substituted: 'All special chn.lcngo matches shall bo played on tho ground ot tho holder of the shield for tho timo beintf, but nnv affiliated union meeting uie holder of tho shield in the ordinary course of inter-union matches (whether on tho holder's ground or not) may givo notice to the N.Z.R.F.I'. and to tho holder not less than fourteen days beioio the day appointed for the match, dedaling such match lo bo a Ranfurly Shield challenge match.'" . , Tho Hutt Club wrote notifying that on account of tho high cost of outfit ani. failure to secure a coach it had deciaei. to withdraw its sixth-grade team. In answer to further questions, Parker said ho had refused to appear before tlio committeo because ho thought he had been treated unfairly in being suspended. On every occasion during the match ho was pulled back when he charged. It was explained to Parker that ho was only suspended for failing to appear before tho union. Parker stated that he did not hear of tlio two captains having come lo any agreement with regard to tlio rules governing tho match. As far 'as his suspension was concerned ho was "easy," and had only attended the meeting upon Ise representations of his club. Tho chairman suggested that Parker should apologiso for the attitudo he had assumed, but ho refused to'do so, . It was decided to suspend both players' for one playing Saturday, as a punishment for tho attitudo tlicy had adopted.
