CHARGE OF PROFITEERING
ME. HUGHES INDIGNANT. . " London, April 3 (delayed). Mr. W. M. Hughes (Australian Premier) is indignant at the statement of Mr Burton, South African Minister, that the Australian Government has been Euilty of profiteering in.having charged double freight for wheat above other British ships. Mr. Hughes says, the statement is without foundation. The rates on tho Commonwealth lines were slightly over half those charged by neutrals, and were identical with the rates on requisitioned liners. The Commonwealth lino further benefited tho producers, lncludinr those of South Africa, but keeping the general rate considerably below tno world's parity.-Aus.-N.Z. Cable Aesn.
