EASTBOURNE MUNICIPAL ELECTION

Sir,—The statement in Saturday's paper stating Hint Mr. T. H. Mather would not contest the Mayoralty is slightly incorrect. Jtr. Mather was requested by over two hundred ratepayers and electors to ciccept norninntinn, and so far has not declined, and wo prefer to accept the old axiom "that silence gives consent." Anyway, T am sure if Mr. Mather had declined he would have notified his deputation, one of whom was C. G. W. MCIIARDS (An Elector).
