The .Maori people, who are planning a big welcome to their boye, > were anxious that the Westmoreland should make a call at Uisborne, but the Minister of Defence has informed them tbnt this is impracticable. An effort will be made to have the Maoris sent from Auckland to Gisborno bv coastal sieanicr, in order that the welcome may take place there- This" will apply, it is expected, only to East Coast Maoris.
