CHARGE OF PERJURY FAILS
A CHRISTCIIIJRCII CASE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, March . 14. A private prosecution on a charge of perjury was heard in the Magistrate's Court to-day. Tho prosecutor was Ernest M'Donald,' who accused Lena Cox, a married woman, of committing perjury during the hearing of a. case iu which M'Donald was convicted for a'breach of the Second-ha-nd Dealers. Act, for purchasing a ring from Mis. Cox, M'Donald having lost his license; Ho claimed that he merely sold, on commission and obtained a signed -authority from tho 'defendant. who signed his book in the name of Mrs. Clark, Peacock Street. Mrs. Cox denied signing, and the charge of perjury is the result. The Bench held that there was not sufficient evidence to warrant accused being committed for trial.
