ST. PATRICK'S DAY SPORTS
The St. Patrick's Day sports are to be hold at Newtown Park on March 17, nnd a highly attractive programme has l«en arranged. Special events have been set aside for metnhers of amateur athletic clubs." The Highland dancing and Irish jig competitions are expected to draw big entries, and the committee is hopeful of making this a special feature of the day. The prize-winners 'will divide some twenty-nine medals and two rosebowjs. 'The baby show, 'which is always a success from the entry point of view, is to receive increased prize-moner. The matron of St. Helens Hospital has been specially requested to judge this event. A. surprisa packet scheme has aleo been inaugurated and will be in chargo of Mr. C. J. Pfaff. Tho Marist Brothers' Old Boys' Association will have charge of the side-shows. A drill display outlined with the shape of a harp -will be n feature of thfl day? One thousand children will tafo part.. Kev. Brother Euscbius is Bunerintending the display. The jjifitional concert is to fake place in the Town Hall in the evoniiyj. The artists engaged are Signor Cesaroni, Messrs, F/irjuhnr Yomijr (of Christchurch), Kevin Djllon, Herbert F. Wood, Misses Violet Laniacroft, Teresa, M'Enroe, and Anne Sullivan. The 'Murist Brothers' School Choirs will open each part of tho concert, and a four-handed '-reel will be (lanced, accompanied by a piper. j
