SATURDAY'S SPORTS MEETING

It is over four yeara since an amateur athletic meeting has been witnessed in Wellington, tho last occasion being the New Zealand championships in Febrnary, 1915. Next Saturday will 6ee the spell broken. At the Basin Reserve 'the provincial championships aro to be revived, tho gathering being under the dual control of the Wellington Amateur and Victoria College Clubs. There are six championships aiid thirteen handicap events scheduled in the programme, and all havo filled well with nominations. Tho number of competitors entered is just short of eighty, exclusive of the school events, nnd the nominees include ft number of athletes from tho Manawatu and Wairarapa district?. The various subcommittees report good progress in the arrangements for the day, find the public should be able to look forward to an afternoon's interesting sport.
