THE MAYORALTY
ME. T. S. WESTON TO STAND. Mr. T. Shailer Weston, who was waited upon by a deputation last week with the request that he would allow himself to lie nominated for the Mayoralty, has acceded to the request. Mr. Weston is a partner in the legal firm of Messrs. Izard and Weston, and is at present chairman, of the Wellington Repatriation Board. He lately held the position of president of the NewZealand Employers' Federation, and is connected with numerous other activities, in Wellington. COUNCILLOR. NORWOOD POSTPONES HIS DECISION. Councillor C. B. Norwood, who last week promised a deputation that he would give an answer to its request that he would stand for the office jf Mayor, has asked for an extension of time until to-day. It is understood t.hat his reason for doing so was to keep faith vith other possible candidates who are his fellow members of the City Council. At least three other'member* of Hie n until are said to have the ambition to stand. COUNCIL FAVOURS COUNCILLOR BARBER. It being understood that four citv coun-cillors-namely, Councillor W.. P. Barber, Councillor C. B. Norwood, Councillor Ct. Frost, and Councillor L. M'Kenzie—proposed to stand for the Mayoralty at the forthcoming elections, members of the council met last evening to consider which of the prospective candidates, if any, should receive their official support. All four attended, and agreed to submit their claims to the decision of the meeting, and abide loyally by the result. Tiie choice of the meeting fell uponCouncillor Barber.
