INSURANCE PICNIC

The annual picnic of the staffs of the citv insurance offices was held at. Day's Day yesterday. Perfect weather prevailed, and 1 there was a large attendance of members of the different-officers and their friends. A lengthy sports programme was gone through, nnd the children were liberally provided for in the mutter of sports and sweets. The principal race, event was the annual contest for the 300 yds. relay championship for the managers' cup. riK> event created considerable interest, ami was keenly contested. The cup was won liy Messrs. Heley, Hipkins, and J aniel, representing the Uniied Insurance Compony. ■ Refreshments were provided in tho Day s Bay pavilion, and a musical proKrnmmc, which brightened the proceedings, was provided by a specially-engaged orchestra. Decision was reserved.
