Improvements at Island Bay were suggested to the City : Council by the Island Bay Surf and Lifer Saving ■ Club.. The following report of the Baths and Beaches Committee was adopted by the City Council last night:- • . General Beach Improvements, with Sea ' Wall, Esplanade, ■ arid laying-out "Rest Park."—The club be informed that the construction of the sea wall and the formation of the esplanade are works that will require to be considered when the loan schedule is being framed. .Regarding the-"rest park," the City Engineer is be,ing instructed to report as to the best method of laying out this .-- quired ground, and requested to submit a plan of his proposals. _ Shed Accommodation for Bathers.—The club's proposal is to utilise the present shed for juvenile members and children, and the committee recommend that it be a recommendation to»the incoming co.un- ■ cil to provide• additional'bathinjr accommodation for young boys and prirls. -. Building New Two-story Bathing Shed ' flower fldor for dressing-rooms, top floor for club social -room).—The: club is to be ■ : informed that the council at the present ' time cannot agree with this, proposal unless is prttrared to undertake the-expenses, at any rate so far as it affects the accommodation required for club social purposes.
