At a meeting of the Returned Soldiers' 'Association there was a lively debato on the proposal to appoint a committee to draft? a political platform. An amendment was moved that ncmhrntions for the committee be accepted., to be eubmitted to a future meeting for approval or alteration. , The amendment was. carried by a laTge majority. The meeting discussed a statement by Mr.. Seymour, general secretary to the New Zealand Association at Christchurch, • that the attitude of the Auckland Association would meet with the emphatic disapproval of the central executive. Mr.. Seymour, who was present, said the New Zealand Association had laid down a definite policy, and it was his duty, as general secretary, to expound that pc&cy; ■ He felt sure the statement he had made in Christohureh would meet witty the approval' of the Dominion executive. It was not made clear that the Auckland Association merely proposed to send a remit so that the suggestion could be'discussed by,the Dominion Conference. He now saw the course proposed by Auckland Avns thoroughly constitutional, and there could,be no objection from the Dominion executive to the remit being sent to conference. • • . ' • . Mr. Long 'urged that Mr. Seymour 6ho\ildhave been-sure of his facts before he 'chastised the Auckland' branch. Mr. Seymour's explanation was accepted as satisfactory.
