NEWS OF SECOND WAVE IN ! BRITAIN. It appears that the present influenza epidemic iu Britain iB Just as severe as that which 6wept the country during last year. The Acting-Prime Minister has received a cablegram from the High Commissioner stating that the present in. , fluenza wave in Britain is comparable in severity with that of last autumn, and appears to be developing. Returns for , the week ending February 22 show a considerable increase in the number of ,■ deaths in the 96 great-town's: 3046 aa against' 1863 for the previous week, ' Slight increases are shown everywhere, but they are most marked in the northern towns, particularly in Newcastle, 163; Bradford, 142; Manchester, 130 j and Liverpool, 188. The figures for London are 653, as compared with 273 the previous week. Previous sufferers, although not immune, are afforded a certain amount of protection. The'oommon complication is pulmonary.
