HARBOUR BOARD'S PEACE JUBILATIONS.
At the meeting of Wellington Harbour Board Inst night, Mr. 11; V. Welch lUol Tliat the resolution passed at the last ordinary meeting of the board to spend £350 on uu archway at peace celebrations be rescinded, and (hat the eaid sum of .£350 be given to the Returned Soldiers' Association 6S a donation toward the memorial to the soldiers who have given their lives for their country. • Ho said that the expenditure of £M on a temporary archway would be a "sinful waste of money.'' Mr. W. Cable seconded the mpfaon. The chairman (Ur.-C. E. Daniel) said that the greatest event of history had to be celebrated, and the people wished to "ejoiee.
