THE EXPORT BAN ON SKINS AND HIDES
PROTEST MEETING AT BURNSIDE. By Tdleeraph—Press Association. Dunedln, February 2G. The statement by the Minister of Agriculture relating to the export of skins and hides formed the subject of a meeting nt Iho Burnside stock sale, when the following motion was curried unanimously :-"That this meeting of farmers, ornziers, butcher?, etc., views with alarm the proposal by the Government to prohibit fie export of skins and hides from Now /.oalmid save by the consent of the Minister fo' . Customs; we also declare such action to be inimical to the country's best interests; that it will foster exploitation, to avoid which -we respectfully ask for a free and 1 open markets we further pledge ourselves to take action to prevent tho Government from carrying out the proposed embargo." Other centres are uirged to take similar action.
