A LONG BOLT

AND A SMART CAPTURE. Two high-spirited horses attached to W. Hildreth •and'Co.'s wagon caused a sensation in the city yesterday morning by madly bolting from Kaiwarra to Barrett's Hotel, via Thorndon Quav and Featherston Street. When the trouble started the lorry was well piled, with empty kerosene and benzine tins, but on the long gallop these tins were shed in such a manner as to form a trail behind the maddened animals. The wonder was that they did not hit anything. A bookmaker was heard to remark (hat "if they did get rid of their tin, they were straight runners." On turning into Lambton Quay from Feathcrslou Street Mr. Gilbert Young effected a smart capture and brought the runaways to a standstill, preventing a more or less serious accident.
