TAKAPUNA MEETING TINOPAI WINS BIG HANDICAP. (By Telegraph-Special Correspondent.) AucWand, February 1. The Takapuna Jockey Club concluded its meeting to-day in showery weather, but the rain did not very seriously interfere with the racing, though the going became a, little heavy. There was a large attendance. Tho totalisator handled ,£30,133, against .£47,697 on the corres ponding day last year. The Moana Handicap resulted is an easy victory for Ohinewairua who held the field safe from start to finish. Pretty Bobby made a strong effort in the Straight, but was never able to trouble the winner. Gluterino was made irhot favourite in the Takapuna Hurdles. With half a mile gone Lady Lyddite was in front, followed bv Mahzoltov, Signature, and Cnlnis. At the end of the second half mile Mahzoltov and ,Lady Lyddite singled themselves out from the rest, and maintained the leading positions to the finish, Mahzoltov winning by a oouple of lengths. Neither Gluterino nor Calais were dangerous at any time. The Suburban Handicap was run in a heavy downpour. Ring Lupin got away badly, and was nover really- in tho race, which was fought out between Lightning and Bollacity, the former winning decisively with a good deal in hand. The Jockey Club Handicap brought out a field of nine. It was ran in sunshine, but tho rain had made the going a little sticky. Spanner and Rockneld were the first to show out. followed Jjy Form Up. 1 Atheus II and Tinopai were the slowest to move. With a mile gone Form Up dropped back, and Waiuta, Windorah, and Killard made a move forward. Then Tinopai and Athens II were to bo seen cutting down the field in good style, and entering the straight Tinopai had her head in front, and coming on gamely finished up a winner, still going strongly. Bedford was never dangerous. The Hobson Handicap was easily son by Mistress Biddy, who made tho running from start to finish. Hetnua and Quiowiudra came at her in the straight, but could not get within striking distance. The Rangitolo Handicap was won from start, to finish by King Abbey, who ran disappointingly on the two previous days. With Robinson on his back to-day ho had no difficultv in stalling off tho challenges of Gold Kip and Givrryowen. In the Wuiwera Hurdles a great race was fought out between Master Lupin, Loyal Arch, Tenacious, and Golden Grafton. Ottor was the first to show out, but tho field soon closed up. Golden Grafton wont up alongside Tenaoious about a mile from homo, and soon afterwards Master Lupin ranged up with the leaders. Half a mile from tho post. Loyal Arch ran to the leaders, and the four raced neck and neck to the straight. Golden Grafton was first over the last hurdle, beating Tenacious by over a length, with Loyal Arch it good third. Thirteen hcves tVivl the barrier in the Welter Handicap. Hyllus got away well, but soon dropped back. He came again a quarter of a mile from the post, and was leading when heads were turned for lmmc, winning by a lencrth from Mill 0 Gowric. Minister was fourth. DETAILED RESULTS.
