AND APPOINTMENT OF MAGISTRATES. By ■ Telegraph-Press Association. Auokland, February 1. The Auckland Law Society recently represented to the Minister that the views of the council of any law society should be sought as to the qualifications and fitness of any person it was proposed to appoint to the Bench in its district, and suggested that wherever a position on the Bench required to bo filled more general opportunity than has Ifcn given in the past should be afforded members of the legal profession to make application for appointment. It was stated at a meeting of the Law Society yesterday that the Minister had replied that the views expressed by the society had been noted, and would be considered. •
