SOLDIERS SENTENCED
By Telegraph—Pr?? B Apsociation Christohuroh, January 12. Sentence was promulgated to-day in the cases of Privates George Deane and Herbert Edward Granger, who pleaded guilty before a District CourtMartial yesterday. Deane was charged wjtdi having absented himself without leave, having failed to concentrate with a reinforcement draft at Ashburtou on April .29, 1918. He was sentenced to fifteen months' imprisonment wjth hard labour. Granger was sentenced to a similar term of imprisonment. He had been charged with disobedience of a lawful command of a superior officer in failing to parade for medical examination when ordered to do so at Timaru on August 24, 1917.
