WELCOME AT TIMARU
Timaru, January 11. A very large crowd greeted General Pan and the French Mission on their .arrival from north. A platform had been erected outside the railway station, and speeches of .welcome were delivered by' the Mayor (Mr. Malihg), the Hon. T. M. Wijford, and Mr-. JCraigie, M.P. General Pau replied. The proceedings lasted about ten minutes, and wer.e characterised by the greatest enthusiasm. OAMARU'S RECEPTION. Oumaru, January 11. The French Mis.sion had a great ovation during the short stay of the express train. There was a big gathering of the public. The 'Mayor welcomed General Pau, who replied in terms similar to those employed elsewhere. ENTHUSIASM AT DUNEDIN. Dunedin, January 12. General Pau and other members of the French Mission arrived on Saturday evening and were accorded an enthusiastic reception by large crowds at the . railway station and on the streets. ' The visitors were conveyed in motor-cars Jto the Octagon, where they were tendered 'a civio welcome. Tho speakers were the Mayor of Dunedin and Mr. G. Fenwiclc, and General Pau replied on the lines of addresses given by him in other centres. The city was gay with bunting. To-day the party rested.
