BRITISH EXPORT TRADE
EARLY RETURN TO NORMAL PREDICTED. London, December 22. Sir Thomas Mackenzie, speaking in London, said that much of the normal export trade would soon return. The shipping problem was working out satisfactorily, and about twenty ships would be available in December and January. The situation for April and May was most promising. The whole of the refrigerated tonnage formerly in the New Zealand trade and diverted far war purposes in the North Atlantic was, now being released.-Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
AMERICAN PLANS. Washington, December 22. Arrangements 'have been made in Paris- to release a million tons of ship, ping for the use of the American export trade, in order to aid American industries to return to their pre-war footing. The United States is believed to have obtained the shipping because . Canada nnd Australia do not need the vessels, as their troops are not returning early.
