GEAR COMPANY'S PICNIC
The annual picnic of the employees of the (Jpar Meat Company was held at DayVßay yesterday in glorious weather, there being an attendance of over one thousand people, most of whom travelled by the s.e. Duchess from Petone. A lengthy sports programme was put through, the results,being as follow:— Boys' Eace (12 to In years), 75yds.—K. M'Carthy, 1; W. Rodger, 2. Girls' Euce (12 to 15 years), 75yds.— Ivy Jones, 1; Jean Norris, 2. Young Ladies' Eace (over 18 years).— Miss Hettie Parrant, 1; Miss M. Doual, Married Women's Eace.—Mrs. De Arth, 1; Mrs. Nicholson. 2. . Married Women's Walking Eace.—Mrs. M'Millan, 1;, Mrs. Pursfill, 2. Three-legsted Race (employees).—r. liarnard and 'D. Boyd. Ladies' Wheelbarrow Race.—Mrs. Norris, 1; Sirs. -Gales, .2 , Thread-the-Needle Eace, 75yds.—Mrs. Harrison, 1; Mrs. Eierson, 2. Sack Race—H. J. Morris/1; L. J. Taylor, 2. ... ... ; Blindfoldedßoxing Competition.—F. Brocklebank, 1; — Porter, 2. Employees' Race—F. Barnard, 1; Horace Parrant, 2. Boot .Tumble Eace.—Horace Parrant, 1; Mrs. Harrison, 2. Married Women's Race—Mrs. Harrison, 1; Mrs. Dp'Arth, 2. Boys' Eace (15\to 18 years). 100 yds.— — Hammington. 1; T. Aitchcson, 2. Girls' Eace (15 to 18 years);—-Miss M. Jollins, 1; Misses Mullis and Basing, 2. Single Ladies' Walking Raco.-Miss Edith Parrant, 1; Miss Hettie Parrant, 2! Blindfolded Duck Eace (the duck being the prize).—This race created a good (leal of fun, and was won by Mrs. Harrison.
