YACHTING

There was a stiff wind on So.tu.rday when the Port Nicholson Yacht Club got off a handicap for three classes. In the first-class handicap (heavy), the Viola finished first in 4hr. 56Jmin. The Rona came second with a time of 4hr. 59min. Third place was filled by the Waitangi in shr. Ihiin. The other 'starters, Atalanta and Kotiri; covered the course in shr. 6min. and shr. 9min. respectively. Marangi did not start. In .the second class the Ruwene came first with a time of 4hr. 51min. Galatea was second with shr. 44.min. Third- placo was taken by the Venus, whose time was sbr. Bmin. Other starters were the lolanthe and Wairere. In the third class the only competitor starting was the Muritai, which sailed over the course. Amai, the only other competitor, did not start.
