BASIN RESERVE MATCHES SOME GOOD BATTING Two senior and two junior two-day matches, opened at the Basin ReFerve on Saturday afterrion. In the senior match East v. Old' Boys, Old Boys went in first, and made 175, to which Birch (iv>t out) and Lambert each contributed 48. East replied with 2M for four wicket 6.. Jl'Girr "(not out) nearly reaching tho century mark. North baited first in their inatch with Returned Soldiers, and at the conclusion of the innings had com-piled-272 runs. Imperial Supplies.—Each team completed one innings. University compiled 134, and Imperial Supplies 133. The principal scorers were: For University—Duncan 48, J. Ward 41; for Imperial Supplies—Smith 36, Lynam 23, Granger 22. Lynam in the bowling took four wickets for 18 runs. Y.M.C.A. v. North.-North batted first, and made 122, to which Y.M.C.A. replied with 101.' North then went in again, and before the call of time made another 57 for three wickets. Hanson made G3 for North, and Smith 50 for Y.M.C.A. All the matches will be concluded next Saturday afternoon. JUNIOR MEN'S ASSOCIATION. Institute v. Base Base Records batted, first, and, made- 115 runs (Valentine .29, Mitchell ,21 not out, Redmond IG, M'Leod 16). Bowling for Institute, W. Hart took six wickets for 41 runs. Institute made 249 rims (G. 801 l 76, H. Spolsky 49, Milbum 42,' Hart 38, G. Benjamin 11), Bowling for Base Records, M'Leod took four wickets for 52 runs; Redmond, three for 57. BOYS' MATCHES. The following are results of the Boys' Institute fixtures:— Senior.-Inslitute A 103 <T. Batt 41) beat Thorndon 54 and 96 (Andrews 27, Taylor 22, Stanton 16) by 49 rims on the first innings. Institute B lost to St. Cuthbert's by four wickets. Juniors-Institute A 149 (J. Banks; 68, Rogers }.■' beat Thorndon 33 and 83 (Martin 22, Pratt 21) by an innings and 33 runs. Institute B, 23 and 13 (Craig 15), lost to Y.M.C.A., 112 (Oliver 23, Mason 12, Price 11), by an innings, and 76 runs. Institute C, 150 (D. Chandler 48, G. Bolt 30, Exton 17, Gill 14, Aitken 13), beat Institute D, 22 and 17, by an innings and 111 run 9. Institute E.lost to St. Anne's; v Institute F lost to Y.M.C.A., Institute G lost by default.
