Inquiries made at the local shipping offices failed to confirm the report, but the opinion is expressed iu shipping circles that it is not improbable. The general manager of the New Zealand Snipping Company stated that his company bad fixed the departure of twelve or fifteen tailing vessels from America for New Zealand or Australia. ■These were all the sailings his company had fixed, Those vessels should begin to arrive early in the New Year. 'They would have mixed cargoes. The company expected to have most of its own steamers back by April or May.
