CAPTURE OF ALEPPO JUNCTION TURKISH RETREAT IN MESOPOTAMIA New York, October 28., The Aleppo railway junction has been captured.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Asot. UNE ADVANCED FIFTEEN MILES FROM ALEPPO.. (Rec. October 29, 7.30 p.m.) London, October 28. The latest advices state that we have advanced fifteen miles from Aleppo in pursuit of the enemy. Detailed reports show that when the British came m the night to the toien, General von Sanders, with ten thousand troops, retired to Katma, at tho junction of the main road from Alexandretta and Adana to Constantinople. A rearguard of two thousand put up a slight resistance, but before retiring burned the station and destroyed most of the rolling stock anu the railway bridges. The Turkish resistance in Mesopotamia is so poor that'we could take Mosul at anytime but for the extremely bod communications, which would necessitate extensive supply and- preparations before a really big move. An official report from Mesopotamia states-.-"Tho Turks on October 26 held a strong position on the Jebel Hamnn hills, westward of ihe mouth of the Lesser Zab. Armoured cars attacked tho lines of communication from tJie west while cavalry threatened those fiom the cast, and the frontal pressuro combined with those attacks compelled the (Turks to retreat twelve miles.
