PALMERSTON SPRING SHOW
Entries for next week's big event at Palmerston North linvo now finnlly closed, and show a substantial increase on last year's figures, excluding the dogs, which are iySt scheduled this year owing to the dispersal of those, interested in the "fancy." Always noted for its display 6f purebred cattle, _ particularly dairy breeds, this, year entries are stated to lie better than ever. New breeds to show rings in New Zealand are North Devon; , Eed Polled, and Guernsey cattle, which will all be. on exhibition. Sheep nnd fleece'wool entries are well up, notwithstanding the fact that Eomney Marsh are somowhat less than last year, and both English and Border Leicesters have disappeared. New breeds to North Island show rings are Corriedales and Devon Longwools. both of which will be on show. Othetr items of interest are fleecewool, returned soldiers' work, and woolspinning, by hand, etc. Preparations are well forward both for the show nnd for the catering, which is again being done by the towri and country patriotic women workers for the Ked Cross.
