SHIPPING OF GREASY WOOL
"MINISTER'S REPLY TO WOOLSCOURERS' COMPLAINT. By Telegraph--I'ress Association. . Christchurch, October 21. Last week Mr. v Ellas, secretary oi , vlie Freezing Works .Employees and Allied Trades Uuiou, telegraphed to several Ministers complainiiu that half a niilioir bales of best greasy wool were being nhipped to America and Canada lor treatment there, instead of in New Zealand. The.' Hon. W. 1 , . Massey, Minister in Charge of Imperial Supplies,* has sent l.he following reply: "The information supplied you regarding the shipment of wool to America and Canada is very much exaggerated. The directions which have been received iroin the Imperial Government with regard to a certain quantity of wool to Allied countries nnd Canada refer to wools unsuitable for 'scouring in this Dominion. No arrangements, have been made with Canterbury wool-scourers for dealing with an extra quantity of wool 'during the comin? season, but it is probable that tlw quantity of wool available' for scouring wul be quite equal to the large quantity dealt with during last season.' ,.
