Mr. G. H. Lightfoot, who .has been officer in charge of tho Wellington (local) branch of the Department of Labour foi the past two and a half years, is shortly to bs transferred lo the similar charge of tho Auckland branch. Auckland is tha largest of the branch districts, having more factories and shops than any. other centre. Mr. Lightfoot's place will bo filled by the promotion of Mr. W. Slaughter, who is at pr.esent inspector in charge of the Invercargill district. Lance-Corporal 0. 11. Iloare, son of Mr G. Houiv of Bromley, previously reported to have d'ied of sickness, was wounded on' October 2, and lias been tiMiW'-rm! to hospital-in Knglnml. _ Cable advice received from the Minister of Defence by Mrs. W. D. Stevenson, of Te Wliiti, reports that her husband. Trooper J. D. Stevenson, formerly o Waitomo Caves, was admitted to hospital on October 13 suffering with malarial fever. Mr H 4. Boauchamp, of Kodak. Australasia,' Limited, is at present on a visit to and Itotorua. He is accompanied by Mrs. Beauchamp. Before the ordinary business of the Hospital Board was taken yesterday a motion of condolence was passed with the relatives of the late Xurse ansor. It wns stated that several members of the board were prweni nt the funeral. Captain Bollons. who was obliged to relinquish command of the Hinoinoa at Auckland last month and enter a ho?oital in that city, is now in a privaio hospital in Wellington. He underwent an operation a few days afio, and is reported to be making a good recovery. The Hey. Mother Mary Camillus died nt St. Mary's Convent, Tonsonby, on Monday morning, at the age of M. Mic had been a member of the Order of the Sisters of Mercy for 63 year.s. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Heysron, of Dublin. Mother Camillus, »:.-lio entered tho Order as a novice at Carlow, County Leinster, in 1555, arrived in Auckland in 1857, and took her \ows as a professed nun on November 22 of the same year. Some timu Inter eho established a branch of the Order in Wellington, in conjunction with tho late Mother Bernard, who had spent two years at thp Military Hospital nt Scutari during the Crimean war. After tho work in Wellington lincl bosii firmly established Mother Bernard and Mother OmiiiHus returned (o Auckland., Mother Camillns had been connected with the work of the Sisters of Mercy in Auckland ever since.
