TAXI FARES
PROPOSED NEW SCALE,
The following new scale rf tasi fares was proposed to the City Council last evening:— By distance: For one paesenger, first mile, Is. 6d.: for one ))assenger, each subsequent naif-mile, 6d.; for each additional passenger, per mile, 6d.; return of empty car, per mile, Is.; waiting time, each five minutes, 9d. Hill fares: On soheduled hills, an in- : crease of 50 per over ana above fares for i(he up journey. Children: Children. under twelve years of age, half fare; under three years of age, free. By time: For first hour or part; thereof, £1; eaoh subsequent fifteen ( minutes, ss. Luggage: Personal luggage not exceeding 281b. free, eaeli additional 281b., 6d. Not employing vehicle •• Any vehicle called but not employed to be oharged for at rate of one passenger for distance travelled. A 50 pßr cent, increase on above fares between 12 midnight and 6 a.m.; foi each car at Ttandon Station, 6d. efetra; special orders as before. The recommended scale was referred back to a committee to report to next meeting.
