INCREASED WAGES WANTED,
Recently the members of the Merchant Service Guild have been asking for an increase in wages. It is stated that they have now indicated their intention of holding a stop-work meeting in Wellington if a settlement is not reached shortly. , _ . , The Federated Seamen's Union has also made a claim recently for a big increase in wages. Negotiations between .the union and the shipowners ara in progress.
