STRANGERS' TEA ANNIVERSARY. The sixteenth anniversary of the Y'-M.C.A. strangers' tea was celebrated at the rooms. Willis Street, on Sunday afternoon, about 120 being present. "Mr. C. M. Luke, president of the Y.M.C.A., delivered an address at the combined meeting which preceded the tea. , Mr. H. W. Kersley presided at the tea, which was. a; highly successful gathering. The annual Toport showed that during the past year 1112 strangers had been welcomed to the city, including 901 soldiers. Since the inception of the tea 7230 strangers-had been entertained. Motions of condolence were passed with the relatives of Private J. Hume and Lanoe-Corporal V. Adair, ex-mem-T>ere of the confmittee, who have laid down their lives in service of King and ;co"ratry. . . . . . The greetings of the anniversary gathering -are to bo sent to Messrs. George M/Kay (chairman for ten years), R. Dyson (ex-chairman), D. C. Sclater, and H. Lay (prisoner oif war in Germany), all of whom have done splendid work on the committee, and bre now at the front. A heartv vote of.thinks was accorded the Ladies' Auxiliary, of which Mrs. A. M. Dumbell is convener, for their excellent efforts in carrying on the tea during the absence of the committee on active service.
' ■ The Lady Liverpool Committee acknowledges receipt of the following donations, which have been collected for the regimental funds for the Wellington Regiment:—Gear Meat Co., £20; Woollen Co., £20; Mr. L. Ttipp, Mr. Weston E. W; Mills, A. L. Paterson, Mr. A. Crawford, Levin and Co., D.1.C., Mr.-John Kirkcaldie, Murray, Roberts, Mr. V. Riddiford, Mr. A. Myers, Mr. Moorhouse, Mr. C. Knapp, ■Wellington Meat Export Co., J. B. ! MacEwan and Co., £12 each; Mr. Her- \ ries, £6; N.Z.. Warehousemen's Association, £5 55... Wairardpa Farmers', £6 65.; Mr. W. Ferguson, £2; and I "Anonymous," £1. These moneys have all been paid to the secretary of • the Advisory Board of , the War Relief 'Association. ' As the Advisory Board has gone fully into the question of regimental funds and has organised! a regimental.fund .for the whole of New Zealand, so that each regiment or unit receives its just proportion, there will be no need for the Lady Liverpool Committee to collect ifurther funds. 'Any moneys for the regimental funds should, in future, be sent to Mr. R. W. Bhallcraes, honorary secretary for the A'dvisory Board of Federated New Zealand War Relief Societies.
