THE FIRE BRIGADE
PRESENTATIONS FOR LONG SERVICE. Recently the Wellington. Municipal Fire Brigade decided that it _ should have a long-service medal of its own instead of-the medal supplied by the New Zealand Fire Brigades' Association. The Fire Brigade felt somewhat proud, of Wellington, and the members were not a little conceited,-perhaps, regardir.g Wellington's position as the Empire City of the Dominion. It was thought that a medaj more appropriate was needed; and a very handsome silver medal bearing the city coat of arms has now been struck. The bars, which denote two years' service after the five for which the medal is received, aro also of a new design, and the ribbon to which they are .attached is in black and gold, the Wellington colours, instead of red. .
