MR. FRASER ON LOYALTY
A QUESTION Of "DEFINITION." An awkward question drew from Mr. P. Eraser, the Socialist candidate for Wellington Central, a longish statement at his meeting last night on the subject of "loyalty." • A questioner asked_: Is Mr. Fra'ser a loyal and true subject of King and country? (Noiso from the audience.) Mr. Fraser: It is quite a legitimate question. It only wants a little definition. I kayo been dealing with loyalists all night—loyalists who have "rooked" the people of this country of millions. If it means that we have to accept any Government, even the Massey Government, until such time as tho people effect a change, I am not; or if it means, Do I want a transformation in society that will abolish our present society and the instituting- of a thorough'democracy ?—and if that means a transformation in any department of the State—then I stand for that., I could even bring myself to do without a Governor. , . The questioner was not satisfied with the answer. He asked again whethor Mr. Eraser was "a loyal subject of tho country in this trouble we are going through." , ■ Mr. Fraser: I think I am—(applause) —and in addition to being loyal to tho people of this country I am loyal to tho workers of the world. (Applause.)
