COAL MINERS' DISPUTE

OWNERS OFFER, INCREASED WAGES. By Mceranh.—Frees Association. Dunedin, September 19. In an address at Kaitangaia on Tuesday night Mr. P. Niven, a member of the executivo of the Coal Miners' Federation, stated thiit the owners had agreed to increase wages 7< per cent, to piece-workers and 10 per cent. to wages men. A ballot taken at Kaitiinsata mines mi Wednesday resulted in 158 votes in favour of accepting the. owners' proposals, and 43 against the offer. Mr. Niven also stilted that if IW miners accepted tho owners' proposals the new rates would come into operation on September 21.
