FRENCH WAR PICTURES
The remarkable collection of paintings, otchings, and drawings by French soldier artists was on exhibition againat the New Zealand Academy of Fino Arts yesterday. The attendance of tho public during the day was not hb largo .as it should have been, and it appeared that Wellington people had not yet realised that thoy. were being offered a chance to see tho most interesting collection of war pictures yet shown in this country.' The soldier artists -and many of the greatest artists of 'France liavo worn the uniform of the poilu— have depicted the war in every aspect, heroic, grave, and gay. Many of tho pictures an) great works of art, quito apart from thoir vivid topical interest. MM. Roger and Bigazzi, who were in charge of tho collection, are making their tour on behalf of- tho blind soldiers of France. They liavo brought with them some of tho original liacmaekors cartoons; Tlvo etchings include tho work of several of -Franco's greatest artists. Tlie oil paintings and sketches comprise many scenos of actual battle, wonderfully, vigorous and •realistic.,.' Die exhibition will be open daily during this week.
