CROPS IN ENEMY COUNTRIES
Crop conditions in enemy countries do not appear to bo favourable. In Germany the "London' Grain, Seed, ajid Oil Reporter" of Juno 28 states that "an official report advises that in Bavaria crop prospects aro not very good, daniago having been caused by drought and frosts. . Tho important rye crop has especially suffered. Considerable snow has fallen in some parts of Germany, and frost has occurred in many districts. Cold weather has delayed tho harvest in Austria, and the food prospects for the following month ■was regarded as very black; In Hungary harvesting had. commenced in the early districts, .but nothing is known about the yields of the different crops. Information received in London at tho end-of June stated that the prospect of Germany obtaining large quantities of grain from' Rumania were not good, as owing to tho war and unfavourable weather the crop outlook was very bad."
