Tho exact position, of Australia in rci gard to the disposal .of her wheat, i amounting to millions of bushels, will ■ probably be known in a few days by i the Wheat Board. j The Central Wheat Board authorities : state that only part of tho 1915-16 and : part _o£-the 1916-17 harvest were sold ; to tho Imperial Government under the ! last' contract, the price being 4s. 9tl. a bushel. The contract was for the ' supply of 3,000,000 tons, and to make j up the quantity tho balance of the !■ 1915-16 harvest and portion of the i 1916-17 harvest were used. It has, j however, not all been delivered. | Now there is a balance of the 1916-17 i crop, the Whole of the 1917-18 crop, i and the prospective crop for 1918-19 still unsold. I The Wheat Board has not been able / to deliver a single harvest to Great ! Britain since the contrar was mado 'i owing to the scarcity of shipping; yet ■ millions of pounds'have been advanced, i and the' board has incurred an overi draft of approximately £14,000,000.
