SOLDIERS SENTENCED

DISTRICT COURTS-MARTIAL,

The finding of distriot courts-martial held at Trentham Camp on August 22 having been 'confirmed by the Commandant of the New Zealand Military Forces, are now announced: — Private T. Prenter, Details (late H Coy., Forty-first Reinforcements), found guilty of absenting himself vithcut leave, was sentenced to detention for fourteen days. Private T : M'Killop (late D Coy., Thirty-seventh Reinforcements), found guilty of, when under orders for active service, deserting, and losing by leglect his equipment, clothing, and regimental necessaries, was sentenced to detention for 180 days, and stoppages to pay tfcr (Sciences in kit amounting to £116s. id. ■'. Private 0. W. Potter (late H Coy.. Forty-first Reinforcements), found guilty of, when under orders for active service, deserting, was sentenced to detention for 90 days. Private E. S. Taylor (late 15' Coy., Fortieth Reinforcements), found guilty of. when under orders for active sr-r----vice, deserting, was sentenced to detention for 90 days. • In the last three cases sentence is mitigated so that if the accused embarks for active service i outside of New Zealand, then upon arrival at the final port of disembarkation, the unexpired portion (if any) of his sentence shall b9 remitted, and his New Zealand 10" ccrds shall bo endorsed accordingly.
