ALLEGED MANSLAUGHTER
. 4 THE OTAHUHU SHOOTING CASE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, August 22. William Edward Hart, aged hfteen years, to-day was 'committed for trial on a charge of manslaughter arising out ot the death of Leunard Buchanan Cavanagh, aged twelve,, who was shot at Otahuhu on Saturday afternoon. The evidence of deceased's brother, aged eleven, was to the effect that when lie and deceased met accused and two other boys in a paddock, Hart, at a distance of twenty yards, said, "Charge!" lifted a gun to his shoulder, and fired. Another boy who was with Hart said Ihu latter did not lift the- gun right to his shoulder, but fired from his chest. Sergeant Harvey said the accused, in n .statement, said he nut a cartridge into the gun on the road, and when ho fired he forgot it was loaded.
Hart pleaded not guilty, reserving his defence.
