CELEBRATIONS IN AMERICA. ■'! (Hcc. July 18, 5.5 p.m.) New York, July 10. There was a nation-wide observation of Bastille Day. The Tricolour was flown from all public buildings. President Wilson sent a message to President Poincni\'e as follows: "The Fourteenth of July, like the Fourth of July,, has taken on ;i new significance throughout tho wholo ■world. 'Wo celebrate the Fourteenth us Franco colebrated the Fourth, This war lis-' being fought to save ourselves from intolerable things, and also to save mankind." Mr. N. D. Baker (Secretary for War) sent this statement to France: "'We wtre comfiides at; tho beginning of our democratic careers. THE "BONNET ROUGE" DUVAL EXECUTED. Paris, July 17. Duval, who was found guilty of treason, by communicating with the enemy, has ken executed— Reuter. [Duval was the principal of seven defendants in the case which the prosecuting attorney called tho second link of the chain of conspiracies against fho security of France. Duval was tho manager of the notorious paper, tho "Bonnet Rouge," and was alleged to have received .£40.000 from Marx, n Mannheim banker, for pro-German propaganda in Fiance. Tho other defendants were sentenced (o terms of five to ten years' penal servitude.] TRIAL OF mTmALVY OPENED (Rcc. July 18, 5.5 p.m.) Paris, July 17. Thd French Senate, sitting as a High Court of Justice, has opened the trial of M Malvy. The indictment charges 11. Malvv with having informed the enemy of all French military and diplomatic plans, especially those relating to tho Chemin des Dames offensive—Aus.-A./i. Cablo Assn.
